Please send a few pages of sequential art to us at the Underfire address. We also accept submissions as image documents or pdf's via e-mail. Please also give us some idea of the type of story you would enjoy working on and what kind of thing you would definitely not want to do. We need to see sequential panels so we know you can put a comic together. If you only want cover work then send us single images by all means but please bear in mind that most people will want to do their own covers.
After we receive your samples we will get in touch and try to send you a script as soon as possible - obviously depending on what is available.
Writers
In the first instance we need to see a story synopsis along with four or five pages of script. If we like it we’ll ask you to do a full script while we set about finding you an artist. We might ask for some script alterations but it’s unlikely.
We are looking for work in all genres with the exception of superhero. Frankly there are enough straight superhero books around so we are not prepared to add to them unless it’s a really interesting or original concept.
It will be very helpful for us if your story fits into one of the following formats:
RAPID FIRE ANTHOLOGY
Stand alone stories 1-8 pages
Two – four part stories 5-12 pages each
MINI SERIES
Up to six issues 20-28 pages each.
ONE SHOTS
20 pages upward
Unless you have done work for the anthology we will need to see evidence of ability to meet deadlines before agreeing to print a larger work.
The Deal
Underfire Comics is a non-profit making organisation.
Underfire provide scanning, lettering and printing services. You are required to fund the printing of your own work. In some cases Underfire Comics can contribute to printing costs.
Underfire Comics distributes to a number of comic shops, sell over the web, and run tables at major conventions. This distribution service is provided free of charge for Underfire titles.
All money made goes into the printing of further comics.
Individual creators retain copyright over their creations.
